How to open a Matlab Notebook

A Matlab notebook enables Matlab commands to be executed from within an MS Word document.
If a single command, place the cursor in the paragraph and click: control-enter.
If a series of commands, highlight them and click: control-enter.

There are two options for opening a Matlab notebook.

A new Matlab notebook can be opened from the command window by typing the command: notebook.
If Matlab does not know the location of winword this will first have to be set up with the command: notebook -setup.

A Matlab notebook can also be opened from an MS Word window. Select from the menu: File - New M-book; or, File - New, and then choose m-book as the template. If given the choice of whether to enable or disable macros, choose enable macros. There should also be a Notebook menu option at the top of the MS Word Window.

Once the notebook is saved, it can be opened later and reused. The Notebook menu gives several options for dealing with existing Matlab commands.
