MAIN FEATURE

The 2002 Regional Student Conference (RSC) and Regional Administrator Conference (RAC) will take place at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia from Friday evening, April 5, 2002 until Sunday noon, April 7, 2002.

The conference offers schools in Region IV an opportunity to compete in a number of contests, such as Old Guard, Poster, Design, and Home Page.The benefits for participating in ASME events like this conference are outstanding.It allows students the ability to establish contact with fellow students, senior ASME members and prospective employers. 

There are three main events that occur during the RSC/RAC.  The Old Guard Presentation is the main event, followed by the Design competition and the Old Guard Poster competition.  The Old Guard Presentations are designed to stress the importance of oral communications skills as well as writing skills in the field of mechanical engineering .  The presentations allow the students to present information regarding anything related to engineering.  The design event for this 2001-2002 academic year is the “Baseball Frenzy”.This competition will allow the students to combine their engineering abilities and work with others to produce a machine that will allow baseballs to be projected to a desired target.  The Old Guard Poster competition will allow the students to present their mechanical engineering ideas in a visual perspective. 

Speaking at the banquet during conference will be representative of the Wright Brothers Discovery of Flight Foundation.

Friday, parking will be available only in Lot 27, which is located behind the Web University Center across the street (Elkhorn Avenue) on the campus of ODU.   Saturday and Sunday, parking is available in any parking lot on the campus.
